Actually, the format of original word and new pronunciation is common
to both Window-eyes and Jaws. However, if you were to copy entries
from the Window-eyes exception dictionary too a .jdf file, all
pronunciations would apply to all synthesizers, which I don't always
want. In order to make entries apply to only one synthesizer, or even
to specific voices of a speech engine, you either have to specify
those parameters in the Jaws dictionary dialogue, or learn the
appropriate syntax from the .jdf file. Only whole word entries are
recognized, and Jaws does reasonably well with plurals, possessives
and past participles of entries.
