I haven't used Goldwave for a long time, and I still have Windows 7. However, I there is a setting under Tools called Control. It is checked. That may help.

Hi Rod,

OK, I did that. There were one or two that did not have a blank
option. Do I leave them at their original setting?

Next, do I use the Goldwave app or the goldwave enhanced app?

Finally, every time I press a right or left arrow, it does what it
should except it also has extraneous speech, which appears that it is
reading a toolbar and status bar, with some extra stuff in the middle.
I keep my mouse pointer at either the very bottom right or the top
right. This makes me wonder if there is not some settings I should have
made with Windows 10. Thanks for your help.

Hi Carol,

In addition to recommending that you upgrade the current build of GoldWave (since it works just fine for me with the current version of WE), here's the solution to your problem:

How to make GoldWave respond better:
GoldWave tends to be sluggish when using a screen reader until one deactivates visual effects as follows:
1. On the Options menu, choose Control Properties.
2. Choose the Visual tab using Control-tab, or by tabbing to the tab control and activating the desired tab using arrow keys. Focus tends to jump around and so you will have to tab to the tab control again to confirm that the proper tab has been reached. 3. In each combo box which contains an option named "blank", set it to this option.
4. Choose the Ok button and you're finished.

Best,

Rod

Subject: WE and Goldwave

Hi Group,

I am trying to use Goldwave with WE. There is a problem where trying to
navigate through a file using the right or left arrows causes a lot of
hesitation and then, silence before the file advances. It does not
matter which time increment I use. I am running version 570, but also
tried version 569. I also have two different versions of the Goldwave
app. One is goldwave0.27 and the other is goldwave_enhanced1.0.1.

Can anyone help me out with this problem? My brother is also using
version 6 something and is having the same problem.
Carol
