Hi Rod,
Well, you are going to be as uh, maybe astonished as I have been. Here
is my little story, grin.
I have rebooted the computer and still come up with the same Goldwave
issue. Yes, I am also using the default setting. I decided to try to
see what happens with Jaws. I used the 2018 version and I kept getting
lots of beeps, you know, kind of like the ones before WE chuts down from
an error. I had tried to use SAPI 64-bit. I decided to see if it would
make a difference with SAPI 5. Well, it did. The beeping stopped and
Goldwave did work properly except, of course, there are no nice little
Window-Eyes app keys do make the program work easier.
I closed Jaws and opened Window-Eyes and now, it is working properly.
Go figure!
I don't think I'll ever get used to this crazy computer, grin.

Hi Carol,
Yes, we're using the same version of GoldWave.
My arrow keys are as silent as the tomb.
Just to be clear, it is with Window-Eyes that you are getting this verbosity?
Also, if you are in the window where you can play and scroll around your file,
and you open the WE control panel, what is the associated set file?
As I mentioned, default.set is mine, and, if another is associated, this may be
your problem.
If so, try associating default.set.
Best,
Rod

Hi Rod,
I am using 6.31, or that is what the download version calls itself. The tag on
the desktop says it is version 6.1.0.0. It is the latest version, I think from
around July or something like that.
Do your arrow keys say anything when you press them? Mine did not before
installing this version.

Hi Carol,
I'm using the current version of GoldWave, which is 6.31, and I'm wondering if
this is one of the issues from earlier versions which the developer addressed.

Subject: arrow keys speaking in Goldwave
Hello,
I can not get the arrow keys to stop speaking in Goldwave. I am running (as
far as I know) the latest version of Win 10 and the latest Goldwave. I also
have Rod's Goldwave enhanced app.
Whenever I press an arrow key (any key, it doesn't matter which one) WE speaks
several lines of text from the information on the mouse screen.
It acts similar to tabbing to a dialog box that reads everything when it is
tabbed to. As the arrow keys are for moving through audio, it makes it
difficult to listen to what I am trying to find. I have never encountered a
problem like this before. Are there any ideas floating around that I might
try? I tried disabling cursor speech, but that didn't change anything. Thanks
for any recommendations.
Carol
