As was the case last year to some degree, the venue of SOTM has decided my
holiday plans for me this year and I'm thinking of staying on for about a week
to see more of Catalonia. I'm quite keen to see the mountain scenery of the
Pyrenees and to do some walking, and looking at the cycle map, the railway line
from Barcelona to La Tour de Carol (France) looks very interesting, passing
through what looks like good scenery.

So I'm wondering if anyone would want to do some sort of hiking-orientated
mapping party up there somewhere, either during the week before or the week
after? I have to admit I know next to nothing about this part of the world,
other than it "looks" interesting.

Another related question relates to language; in that part of Spain, would it
be sufficient to learn a bit of Spanish, or would Catalan be needed?

Nick
