Same test here and same result... The differences being the result of a couple of mistakes in the map, which I'm going to correct very soon. I'm pleased with MapQuest Open's bicycle default routing algorithm.
The relief avoidance weighting is rather extreme - it will make rather large detours to get around molehills...
