Yet another move from Google Maps to OSM: With yesterday's update of the geocaching.com website GM has been replaced by OSM at least for some of the maps.
>From the release notes ([1]): > • Removed Google Map API from user routes (CAaR) and replaced with > Leaflet/open-map > • Removed Google Map API from Trackables maps and replaced with > Leaflet/open-map Additionally the upper, static map in a cache listing is now based on leaflet while the second map a bit further down is still GM. (Note: These maps are only visible when logged in as a user). A nice side effect could be to further promote OSM within the geocaching community. Potentially this should bring in addtional mappers as the entrance hurdle for geocachers should not be too high: They have GPS units, go outdoors and are typically technically rather savy...
