As others have pointed out, we don't know if we've reached critical mass until the units of the mass have been settled upon. Pounds? Stone? Kilograms? > Here is our report. I don't see any indication of what will happen with data declared to be in the public domain. Since this data is not currently licensed (there is no owner to grant a license), it should not be deleted since it's not subject to the license change. > - We still have not been able to get responses from about 35,000 older > contributors who have mapped at least one node. IMHO, we should declare that everybody who edited anonymously has two choices: 1) take ownership of your edits, or 2) give up your copyright. The principle behind this is that a copyright notice has to say "Copyright", give the date, and name the owner. The one node threshold is too low. If somebody cannot be bothered to accept nor reject the license change, we should say that they have abandoned their copyright if it is less than, say, 10 nodes. -- --my blog is at http://blog.russnelson.com Crynwr supports open source software 521 Pleasant Valley Rd. | +1 315-600-8815 Potsdam, NY 13676-3213 | Sheepdog _______________________________________________ talk mailing list talk@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk
