Hello, these days I have given to a little italian public administration the results of an analysis of the differences between their data and those of openstreetmap. This public administration wants to understand if she can create a dialogue with openstreetmap community.
My analysis was divided into three parts: - Differences between attributes - Geometrical differences between the data - Analysis of the community of the area By compare the data I found the different point of view - The public administration requires classify the responsibility for roads and properties and, therefore, it is often difficult to identify as an object is seen in openstreetmap - Geometries are often different or for distance or for number of nodes with which they are composed. This depends very much on the way the data are collected. A public a informs the sampling method (eg digitization from aerial photo 10 km)., In openstreetmap this is not always reconstructed In any case the release of the data, so that they are used by the community, leading equally advantages, since these can then be reused with the innumerable applications born on OpenStreetMap. This is not a direct benefit for the PA. Other aspects emerged (in favor of PA) - Possibility of using OpenStreetMap as an instrument for signaling changes in the territory - Release of aerial photographs with an opin order to take advantage of the work of intelligence collective in the digitization of futures On Fri, Jun 15, 2012 at 11:04 AM, Kate Chapman <k...@maploser.com> wrote: > Hi All, > > I'm giving a presentation in a couple weeks about OpenStreetMap and > how governments can interact with OSM. > > I'm looking for examples of governments using OSM data, versus > releasing data for OSM to use. > > I already know about TriMet in Portland, OR for example: > http://ride.trimet.org/ > There is also my work with HOT in Indonesia for mapping exposure for > impact models. > > What other examples are out there? > > Thanks, > > -Kate > > _______________________________________________ > talk mailing list > talk@openstreetmap.org > http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk -- Maurizio "Napo" Napolitano http://de.straba.us _______________________________________________ talk mailing list talk@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk
