All, For those interested in the world of GIS beyond just OpenStreetMap you may be interested to know that version 2.0 of QGIS (a free open source alternative to ArcGIS) has now been released.
My understanding is that the old OpenStreetMap plugin (which broke when we moved to 64bit nodes) has been dropped and replaced with all new OSM functionality. As of yet I haven't tested this, so you may want to have a go and update our wiki as appropriate.
