Satellite imagery always seems out of date or cloud covered. Being able to capture new buildings using drones seem like a good fit. I have seen 3D modeling using images taken from quadcopters. The possibilities of what can be done with open source software are pretty amazing. We are going to have a demo of aerial imagery using kits at an upcoming OSM 10th Anniversary event in Seattle.
