But keep in mind such a survey is not representative, not even for the 
talk-ML readers.

The subject here is essentially the critical view of the activities of a 
certain group (the humanitarian mapping community).  Depending on how 
much the survey was known within this community this group will likely 
be either overrepresented or underrepresented in the survey.

If you make a survey without controlling who participates it makes sense 
to include some meta-questions.  Here things like 'what percentage of 
your mapping activities is remote mapping?' or 'have you participated 
in humanitarian mapping projects?' would have been very useful.
