Try changing the audio priority from 1 to 2 for the program that is having trouble playing the audio files. This is in the Talks setting, options, audio, then select whit one you are using and change it. This is the system wide way to see if it fixes the issue. Is it does, then you can set a application specific setting for that program.

Well I just discovered another problem with the latest update and talks. When you select tones for clock alarm ring tones and so on they won't play in settings personalize tones. The same applies in clock settings alarm tone. In fact they now will only play when personalizing profiles. Ok when I went to change the clock alarm tone a few minutes ago and they could not be heard I went back to music player as it was loaded at the time and closed it. When it still did not function I removed skype from memory. When this also had no effect I rebooted the e72-2. When the tones still would not play when selecting them I went in to the talks program and speech and switched to Nokia tts speech. The situation is still the same. When personalizing profiles you can hear the tones when making your selection. In tones clock and calendar their respective alarm tones can not be heard when the user is changing tones.
