The Peninsula Tango Society will sponsor a series of tango events -- Workshop, Discussion group, Dinner, Milonga -- on
Saturday, August 4, 2001 Los Altos, California. The workshop, in two sessions, will be lead by the Bay Area's very popular Argentine tango instructor Glenn Corteza. * 10:00a.m.-Noon, Workshop Session I: Tango Fundamentals, covering basic movements, musicality, and floor navigation. - 1:30-3:30p.m., Workshop Session II: Introduction to Dance Technique, for leaders and followers. (If you'll be attending both sessions, bring a lunch or buy one in any of a number of restaurants close to the workshop site.) * 4:00-5:45p.m.: 'Square table' discussion group, free, and open to the tango community at large. You will be able to share your thoughts -- and air your gripes -- about anything (really, anything) relating to tango. * 6:00p.m.: Members of the discussion group who wish to do so will adjourn to a no-host, pre-milonga dinner at the Ay Ya Yay Restaurant, 301 State St., Los Altos (close to the workshop venue). Don't be surprised if the discussion extends through dinner. * 9:00p.m.-midnight: Milonga, with music provided by the popular DJ (and a very busy one he is), Emilio. Locations: - Workshop, Discussion Group, Milonga: American Legion Hall, 347 1st St., Los Altos. (Between Main St. and San Antonio Rd., across the street from Draeger's Market.) - Dinner: Ay Ya Yay Restaurant, 301 State St., Los Altos.
