TANGO MAYA MEXICO, Feb. 28-March 8, 2003
TEACHERS: EL INDIO AND MARIANA, and (pending) CECILIA GONZALEZ!!
DANIEL DIAZ with his bandoneon, and San Miguel accomplished musicians
playing in the first Tango Orchestra of San Miguel de Allende! This week can
truly be called a mini tango festival, as we will have our regular three
hours of classes a day, but extra ones as well for technique for both women
and men, Argentine folklore,
"Tangosutra" workshop with El Indio and Christina, etc.
Your trip would begin in San Miguel de Allende, to fulfill lust for
retail therapy, and quench your overworked tango muscles in the four hot
underground springs around town. In between tango classes and a milonga at a
gorgeous colonial restaurant, we can opt to learn more about Mexican
symbolism and culture through a local professional lecturer and guide.
On to Oaxaca (city) by plane through Mexico City, where we will stay at a
beautiful hotel near the central markets, churches, shops, and museum. Oaxaca
is a land at once mountainous, but then dropping to it's famous seacoast to
the West. A mix of Mayan descendants, the Mixtec and Zapotec natives still
speak their own languages above Spanish, and their arts, pottery, cooking,
and weavings are famous everywhere. Tango classes will be set in a large
wooden floored room at "El Encuentro" , a workshop center 15 minutes from our
hotel.
We will have a class in the famous cooking techniques of Oaxaca, and a
museum or walking tour.
$1,065 is the base price for this trip; per person double occupancy. IT WILL
GO UP, as our prices usually do, within about a month. IF YOU DECIDE TO
REGISTER BEFORE NOV. 15, YOU WILL HAVE A SPECIAL PRICE OF $995.
THIS PRICE INCLUDES: ALL TANGO CLASSES, MILONGAS, WORKSHOPS, SHOWS. ALSO

SAN MIGUEL TO MEXICO CITY, COOKING CLASS AND TOUR IN OAXACA, and many other
treats and surprises.

dancers, and fly out of Mexico City on Saturday.
