BEGINNING ARGENTINE TANGO (Level I) --
Studio owner Donna Tielsch and partner Andy Carrillo teach two new Beginning
Tango series starting in July. The Saturday series, beginning July 3, runs
from 11:00a.m.-12:15 p.m. every Saturday in July. The Tuesday night series,
beginning July 6, runs from 7:00-8:15 p.m. every Tuesday in July. These
progressive weekly classes will teach you the fundamentals of Argentine tango;
among other things, you will learn the elements of the tango walk (caminada),
introduction of basic steps (balanceo, salida, la cruzada, cadencia, ochos, &
sacadas) and technique while developing musicality, and establishing the unique
tango connection between dancers, the music, and the floor. These classes lay
a foundation of technique, with the aim of giving each student enough of a
tango repertoire so that they can begin to create and improvise their own tango
dance. Enrolled students from either Level I class are welcome (and encouraged)
to drop in on the sister class at no additional cost (for
example, sign up for the Saturday class and also attend the Tuesday night class
for free this really helps to reinforce the basics!). Cost is $35 per
person/$60 per couple for either series ($20 for students/$30 for student
couples).

ADVANCED BEGINNING/INTERMEDIATE ARGENTINE TANGO (Level II) --Studio owner Donna
Tielsch and partner Andy Carrillo teach two new Level II Beginning/Intermediate
Tango series starting in July. The Saturday series, beginning July 3, runs
from 12:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. every Saturday in July. The Tuesday night series,
beginning July 6, runs from 8:30-10:00 p.m. every Tuesday in July. These
progressive weekly classes are designed to refine each dancer s technique
through the use of patterns and other more complex steps (e.g., molinettes to
the right and left, carpa, la calecita, etc.). Women will be instructed in
adornments as well as being introduced to more dramatic steps (ganchos, boleos,
ocho cortados, etc.) Men are instructed in refining their style (with paradas,
lapis, etc.) while learning to lead more complex steps. Each month we learn a
new pattern and while the patterns are often complex and dramatic, they are
essentially tools for teaching technique so that students ca
n master the steps that comprise each pattern. In these Level II courses we
use digital video to film each student s dancing for immediate and objective
feedback at the end of each class. This allows students to self correct their
style, posture, and technique with guidance and support from the instructors
and peers. We have been delighted at how quickly our students have progressed
in this way! Enrolled students from either Level II class are welcome (and
encouraged) to drop in on the sister class at no additional cost. Cost is $35
per person/$60 per couple for either series ($20 for students/$30 for student
couples).
