Probably Hivemind is the single most confusing point of Tap 4 for new users. It seems that sometimes Tapestry committers assume everybody understands Hivemind / or thinks is the coolest thing around. It's pretty neat, I agree, but it's rather a weird POV for many people.

But for release 4.0 I think the FIXMEs and the confusing validator stuff is enough to fix ;)
I mean, just fix the embarrassing parts.

+1 for me

Although the documentation is not complete, I'm happy with the current
docs and example applications. I remember when I started with the
first beta trying and when I look now, I can survive with the docs and
the examples.

Henri.

Of course, you already know the framework.

I think that a detailed documentation would really need a fair amount
of time and wouldn't allow to release tapestry 4 anytime soon. The
release is really about bugs and features.
I completly agree about the documentation and Tapestry needs something
like Hibernate's documentation. I believe that Hibernate documentation
is its main strength (even more than the framework which wasn't that
great on version 2).

But with the complexity of the 4 version (and especially all the
hivemind stuff), it is a serious chunck of work. Even hivemind lacks
of detailed documentation in several areas.

The learning curve of the version 4 will be probably pretty step for a
beginner. Even understanding the meaning of the hivedoc is not trivial
IMO. Maybe there should be a walthrough of the VLib? (which is a great
example)

Thanks,

Henri.
