Which version of Tapestry are you using? If you're on 4.0, the delay might be caused by the HiveMind initialization.

Is it normal if my tapestry page first compilation about 2-4 seconds? Because the same page in JSF compiles much faster. I have Intel Celeron 1,7 GHz and 512 MB of RAM, I use JDK 1.5 and Tomcat 5.5. Is it normal behavior?
