ok ok I guess I'd better have my say.

I'm going to build *something* for T4, if for no other reason that I
have made many promises in the past and I'm not one to renege.

I'm afraid that that *something* will be less than what people are
hoping for. The devil is in the details and I *am* crushed at work and
don't have the hour or so it would take to lay it out in detail right
now. Rest assured I will do so asap.

As for T5+Spindle. A lot of effort has gone into figuring out (and
failing to figure out) how tooling for T4 will go. To avoid this in
the future I want to be more involved in the development of T5 to try
and ensure this whole mess isn't repeated. I have already thrown out
ideas on the dev list.

I've taken the approach of avoiding the act of "drawing a line in the
sand" and getting all bitchy if my ideas are not immediately accepted.
I want T5 to be every bit as cool as Howard does, but I do have the
ulterior motive to gently "steer" T5 in a direction where everyone is
happy. I don't think much steering is needed to have T5 in a state
where building Spindle 4T5 (!) will take anywhere near as long as 4T4
has taken to date.

In my world "everyone is happy" when they have a T5 that does all the
fantastic things we want it to do ****and*** we have a framework with
excellent tool support.

The last year working on Spindle 4T4 has been a real morale buster for
me. (have a look at the spindle-dev archives for a taste of what I
mean).

Anywho, must climb back into my death march hole for (hopefully) another week.

Geoff

P.S. I really don't know how may people use Spindle today. The numbers
have obviously dropped off since T4 has taken over. If you want tool
support to have a higher priority going forward then speak up where
the Tapestry committers can hear you. Hugo and I are just two voices
in the committer crowd (that's growing pretty quickly these days!).
