Kieren, if you try RServe 0.4 and find that it works with R 2.8.1,  
please pass the word on.

I've been using R 2.7.0 and RServe 0.4-7 for ages; an additional  
complication arose from a dependency with another package (ggplot) so  
that may be the reason I'm still a version behind on R. Unfortunately  
once package dependencies become a problem, they seem to spread - I  
can  no longer run workflows that I made a year ago because of a  
dependency issue that I just haven't been able to take the time to  
untangle.
