Hi,
We are evaluating workflow engines for our project and Taverna is one of the
workflow engines we have shortlisted
We are looking for following features:
1. Parallel execution and configurable number of concurrent threads/node.
2. Add, edit, run and save any workflow programmatically.
3. Workflows and customized components can be saved, reused, and shared
4. Workflows can be nested, allowing complex tasks to be composed from
simpler components, and enabling workflow designers to build re-usable, modular
sub-workflows that can be saved and used for many different applications.
5. Command line execution of workflows
6. Do we have client-server support, and how easy it to configure?
7. Workflows can leverage the computational power of cluster/grid
technologies .
8. Handling large amount of data
It has come to our attention that these features will be available with SCUFL2
and Taverna 3 which is supposed to be releasing this month. Is it possible to
get early access to a testable (server) version of Taverna 3
If yes please provide SVN URL for download.
One more question we have is how Taverna is different from other workflow
engines such as Kepler.
Thank you.
Regards,
Prashant Bandal
