I've had many bad experiences, specially related to reading and
writing files when using Open JDK 6. You should use Open JDK 7 or
Oracle's JDK 6 or 7.

The reason Open JDK 6 is buggy can be more obvious if you see how it
was made in the picture at http://openjdk.java.net/projects/jdk6/
