Agree totally with you. If there is a technical solution (and there
obviously is, as gmx uses qmail), and the problem still exists, then it's
an error from the user's point of view. Changing the body of a mail is a
total NONONO, and all my other providers manage to leave the body as I send
it.

Yes, and gmx even loses money with that, because of their reliability in
the last view months I wanted to subscribe to their service. Not because I
need the additional features, just to support them.
BTW: In my tests the > is _always_ inserted when sending mails via gmx to
gmx. And: The problem is not a 'artificial' one, it occurs on every
forwarded message.
