It's annoying because it is not clear. If the two signal strings are
both under first tab "rule", they are connected by AND. If a number of
strings are under the second tab "Alternatives", they are connected by
OR, with each others and with the "rule" rule.

I don't think that this is self-evident by looking at the tabs.
