And good guesswork it is however, the particular addressbook entry
does not have a template nor is the "use specific template" option
selected. In this case it defaults to the standard reply template &
that, indeed, has a %quotes macro within it.  So all good guesswork
but not the answer yet although I appreciate your thoughts on the
subject.

I deleted the offending address from my address book & the two groups
that it was associated with. I then shut down & reopened TB!. Then I
used CTRL-W or Specials menu/add sender option to re-enter the address
to the address book. I tried a reply & it worked. Then I went back
into the address book & assigned this address to 2 groups. Then I
tried to reply again & it did not function. I've repeated this a
couple of times. Its the only thing I have found that is consistent
with this problem but I surely don't know what it means.
