Well put. I would only add the following...
If one is not using a mailer like The Bat! - which won't execute active
scripting embedded in HTML - has HTML display enabled, and has not taken
precautions to *change default settings*, there is a danger of viruses
being spread via the use of HTML. OE/IE is particularly offensive in this
regard (among other offenses), as it's not only the most widely used
mailer by email neophytes, it's default HTML display settings invite just
such infections.
