Hi Paula,

On 12 December 2001 at 00:45:11 [GMT-0500] (which was 05:45 where I
live) PFord wrote to Maurice Snellen and made these points:

>> I don't know how long The Bat! and its MailTicker have been around,
>> but if I remember correctly, GroupWise didn't have the Marquee as
>> it is called until somewhere in the 5.x versions.

P> The Marquee was new to GW 5.5, released 9/98. I've been using The
P> Bat since v.1.00.95, about 327 updates ago. My recollection is that
P> the Mail Ticker was added in one of the 1.1x versions after GW 5.5,
P> because I recall thinking at the time that it wasn't "unique", but
P> I could be wrong. Maybe some enterprising Novell programmer crooked
P> the idea from a little known company in Moldavia. :) Could be a new
P> source of revenue for RIT Labs.

My archives contain this message I sent to another discussion list:

Date: Fri, 15 May 1998 08:50:58 +0000
X-Mailer: The Bat! (v1.00 Build 1336) UNREG

I had, that day, discovered this great new email app which included
this really clever ticker. It's always been there AFAICS and predates
the Novell ticker. This is the only message using an UNREG version,
because I registered TB on the same day.
