It is not only a hyphen, it is the dash macro: %-

You see, when you add an macro into a template, you will usually hit
<enter> afterwards and then continue typing in the next line. this
<enter> will be interpreted by TB quite literally: in you reply, there
will be a new line. In order to prevent this, you can use the dash
macro at the end of the macro line, and it will "eat up" the CR/LF, so
there is no new line in your reply.

For example, if my reply template for this list started with:

%TO=""%TO="""%OFromName on TBUDL"" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>"
Hello %OFromName,

you would see a blank line at the top of my reply, before Hello. If I
change this to:

%TO=""%TO="""%OFromName on TBUDL"" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>"%-
Hello %OFromName,

(adding the dash macro to the end of the first line) there will be no
blank line, and Hello will appear on the top of the reply.

Clear?
