I think the best solution should be to be able to place again a
shortcut for "Del" key...

I have something for you to try. I think that if you press the . in
the numeric pad WITH numlock ON, it represents the "del" key... I
won't try it - I don't want to mess with my shortcuts... But as you
have deleted yours... I think this is because if you double-click a
shortcut assigned to that key, the modal window shows something as
"decimal key" (I see it in Spanish). If this works it could be
documented somewhere...
