Marck, thanks for your reply. What you suggest is essentially what I have been doing. But I read into your original remark more than was there; namely that one could have truly independent column/sort settings for unthreaded vs. threaded (of various kinds) folders, without selecting the threading mode as one entered each folder. Apparently not so.
