Especially for high frequence folders like Inboxes. TB! keeps all deleted or moved messages where they were, only marks them as deleted, so they don't show up in the list. The disk space will only be set free when the respective folder is compressed. scc> However, does defragmentation accomplish the same scc> thing? Even if compression is a good thing to do on a regular basis (and scc> how would I schedule that?), would that really solve the occasional scc> slowdown problem given that a cold reboot doesn't compress messages, but scc> it did solve my problem. At least for a while. I can't say if your problems may have other causes. But I know that regular purging and compressing helps a lot to keep The Bat! working properly. I do it manually, almost every other day via Folder - Maintenance, towards the end of the day. My daily mail and news average is about 300+ messages. You can set TB! to purge and compress on exit in your folder properties. This will take additional time on exiting TB! depending on the amount of data to be compressed. When you never compressed your folders, do it as soon as possible. It might take some time though... -- Cheers Peter Always record your data! It indicates you have been doing something. ________________________________________________ Current version is 2.02.3 CE | "Using TBUDL" information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
