The Bat! needs compression too. Especially for high frequence folders
like Inboxes. TB! keeps all deleted or moved messages where they were,
only marks them as deleted, so they don't show up in the list. The
disk space will only be set free when the respective folder is
compressed.

I can't say if your problems may have other causes. But I know that
regular purging and compressing helps a lot to keep The Bat! working
properly. I do it manually, almost every other day via Folder -
Maintenance, towards the end of the day. My daily mail and news
average is about 300+ messages.

You can set TB! to purge and compress on exit in your folder
properties. This will take additional time on exiting TB! depending on
the amount of data to be compressed.

When you never compressed your folders, do it as soon as possible. It
might take some time though...
