I use Outlook in the same way that you do. You will find that Outlook
resets itself to be the default email programme on a regular basis -
many Office updates via Microsoft Update reset the default email
client, including updates of the Outlook Junk Mail list. There are
instructions on stopping this happening at the following location
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=933450 but Brian Livingstone
(http://windowssecrets.com/) suggests that it is easier to reset it
manually.
