Call for Papers:

Even after a century of research and study in the field, radar systems
with enhanced features are in high demand for surveillance, tracking,
and imaging applications, required in both civilian and military
contexts. Advanced radar technologies are needed to face the problem of
complex environments, with changing electromagnetic properties of
targets, such as vehicles, ships, buildings, and terrain, for different
frequencies, polarimetric modes, and configurations.

The aim of this special issue is to provide an international forum for
researchers to summarize the most recent developments and ideas on
emerging radar technologies, with a particular emphasis on the new
concepts of compressed sensing and cognitive features. Potential topics
include, but are not limited to:

• Compressive sensing/sampling
• MIMO radars
• Cognitive and intelligent radars
• Advances in surface penetrating technologies for imaging,
detection, and classification
• Through-wall radar imaging
• Innovative antennas for radar applications
• Advanced hydrological applications of radar
• Deep sea oil exploration
• Target recognition techniques
• Tracking algorithms

The special issue is organized in the framework of the 2013 World
Conference on Information Systems and Technologies (WorldCIST13 -
http://www.aisti.eu/worldcist13/). The authors of the selected papers,
which are accepted and registered for the conference, will be invited to
submit their contribution to the special issue.

Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal’s
Author Guidelines, which are located at
http://www.hindawi.com/journals/jece/guidelines/. Prospective authors
should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through
the journal Manuscript Tracking System at
http://mts.hindawi.com/author/submit/journals/jece/art/ according to the
following timetable:

Manuscript Due: Friday, 26 April 2013
First Round of Reviews: Friday, 19 July 2013
Publication Date: Friday, 13 September 2013
