Call for Chapters + Book Title: Cooperative Robots and Sensor Networks (Second Edition) Special edition in the ³Studies in Computational Intelligence² Springer Book Series http://www.springer.com/series/7092 + Publisher: Springer Editors Dr. Anis Koubaa (Prince Sultan University, Saudi Arabia)/(CISTER Research Unit, Portugal) Dr. Abdelmajid Khelil (Huawei Tech., Germany) Call for Chapters Abstract Submission Deadline: March 01, 2013 Abstract Acceptance Notification Deadline: March 15, 2013 Full Chapters Due: June 15, 2013 Chapter Acceptance Notification: September 15, 2013 Estimated Publication Date: December 2013 Context and Objectives Mobile robots and Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) have enabled great potentials and a large space for ubiquitous and pervasive applications. Robotics and WSNs have mostly been considered as separate research fields and little work has investigated the marriage between these two technologies. However, these two technologies share several features, enable common cyber-physical applications and provide complementary support to each other. The primary objective of book is to provide a reference for cutting-edge studies and research trends pertaining to robotics and sensor networks, and in particular for the coupling between them. Research works dealing with the integration between robots and sensor networks are particularly sought. The book also looks for contributions about cyber-physical applications based on robotics and/or sensor networks, such as vehicular networks, intelligent transportation systems, healthcare monitoring, industrial automation, etc. Outstanding contributions related to purely sensor networks or robotics research works are also welcome. Target Audience The book is expected to serve broad audience including researchers, academics, advanced students, and industrials in the field of robotics and sensor networks. Recommended topics There are three major topics of interest for this book: (1) sensor networks, (2) mobile robots, and (3) cyber-physical intelligent applications. Any research work coupling any of these topics is particularly sought. In addition, efforts related to merging cloud computing with robotics and sensor networks are of big interest for this book. Comprehensive tutorials and surveys are also expected. Details about recommended topics include, but are not limited to, the following: 1. Wireless Sensor Networks Cloud computing and sensor networks intgeration Communication and Network Protocols (MAC and Network Layers issues) Wireless Technologies (IEEE 802.11, IEEE 802.15.4/ZigBee, 6LoWPAN, RPL, WiMax, UWB) Localization and Tracking Link Quality Estimation Fundamental Theoretical Limits and Algorithms Performance Evaluation, Simulation and Modeling Tools Measurement and Experimental Tools Security and Privacy Programming Models and Languages Operating Systems Service-Oriented Architecture Hardware Design and Implementation 2. Mobile Robots Cloud Computing and Robotic Integration Combinatorial problems and algorithms for robotics Path Planning New robotic platforms Robot programming Multi-Robot Task Allocation (MRTA) Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) Coordination and Cooperation Autonomous Navigation Robot Localization Swarm Intelligence Multi-robot systems Unmanned vehicle systems Learning for control Bio-inspired robotics Probabilistic Exploration and Coverage Object Detection & Collision Avoidance 3. Cyber-Physical Intelligent Applications Intelligent Transportation Systems Vehicular Networks Health-Care Monitoring Surveillance Smart Home Industrial Automation Internet-of-Things Case Studies Submission Procedure Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit on or before March 01, 2013, a 2-3 page chapter proposal clearly explaining the mission and concerns of the proposed chapter. Submission of abstracts must be done through EasyChair system https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=robosense2013 Authors of accepted proposals will be notified by March 15, 2013 about the status of their proposals and sent chapter guidelines. Full chapters are to be submitted by June 15, 2013 through EasyChair https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=robosense2013 The Chapter should not exceed 20 pages with respect to Springer format. All submitted chapters will be reviewed on a single-blind review basis. Contributors may also be requested to serve as reviewers for this project. Publisher This book will be published by end of 2013 by Springer as an edition of the book the series ³Studies in Computational Intelligence². http://www.springer.com/series/7092 For additional information and guidelines regarding the publisher, please visit www.springer.com Important Dates Abstract Submission Deadline: March 01, 2013 Abstract Acceptance Notification Deadline: March 15, 2013 Full Chapters Due: June 15, 2013 Chapter Acceptance Notification: September 15, 2013 Estimated Publication Date: December 2013 For any inquiry, please contact Anis Koubaa [email protected] _______________________________________________ IEEE Communications Society Tech.
