CALL FOR BOOK CHAPTERS Cyber Physical Systems: Architectures, Protocols and Applications, by CRC Press, Taylor & Francis Groups, USA Editors: Harold Liu and Yan Zhang ******************************************************************************* The cyber-physical systems (CPS) represent an evolution in computerized interconnectivity. Not only traditional computers, but also smart autonomous devices will seamlessly interconnect via machine-to-machine (M2M) technologies to provide and consume new classes of services such as intelligent shopping, smart product management and home automation. Such devices will largely include physical sensors and RFID tags embedded in various hosts (e.g., vehicles, buildings, habitats, humans, utility grids, containers, garments, smart phones, etc.), enabling constant analysis of their environmental and operational states. Examples include real-time supply chain monitoring, remote patient monitoring, and infrastructures monitoring. Further goals include using such capabilities to enable highly intelligent and responsive actuation, for example through dynamic public transit scheduling or efficient and predictive utility (electricity, water) management. The book will be written for people interested in the CPS research, development and implementations at all levels. The primary audience includes senior undergraduates, postgraduates, educators, scientists, researchers, developers, engineers, innovators and research strategists. The book is about to be 1,000 pages and 16 chapters with each chapter 60 pages. It aims to systematically introduce the detailed design and implementations of the architecture of CPS, and followed by its enabling technologies, and then moves to describe a few emerging application scenarios of CPS. [Call for Book Chapter Contributions]: Authors expected to contribute to an existing chapter from the suggested outline should submit a 1-2 page letter by *15 June, 2013* to [email protected] and [email protected], clearly explaining the mission, content, number of pages, and number of figures/tables of the chapter. [Call for Book Chapter Proposals]: We also strongly encourage other topics related to the theme of this book yet not listed in the suggested outline. Authors should submit a 2-3 page chapter proposal by *15 June, 2013 *to [email protected] and [email protected], clearly identifying the title, abstract and descriptions that explaining the mission, content, number of pages, and number of figures/tables of the proposed chapter. In particular, the authors are welcome to propose other promising applications of CPS like in smart grid, connected vehicles, smart building, etc., besides those in the outline. Outline: Chapter 1.
