Do laptops or any classroom technology level the playing field or increase inequality?  I do not think we have data on this.  I do not see this as yet another barrier for folks who have physical or learning differences (they qualify for accommodations, and may use them as part of their individual accommodations).  I am concerned with the computers that have photo cams attached - it is impossible to monitor the use in the classroom.  While I always assume I could be recorded, it is quite different to know that pictures of you or their classmates are being taken and may even be posted (or worse yet, altered and posted) on the Internet.

I am concerned that some intro to sociology texts (and other text books) have replaced printed study guides with CDs that require an Internet connection. Corning Community College is located in a rural area, and this has created a burden on students.
