Sandra, For the last few semester, I've shown the film, Witness for my unit on culture. It's about a cop from Philadelphia forced to spend time with the Amish, so the students actively see some major concepts (dominant culture; subculture; norms; values; ethnocentrism, etc), through a medium they enjoy. They see it in three parts and I have questions based on a text chapter on culture they read before viewing the movie, for each segment of the film. I find the students absorbing the concepts in ways they never did from straight lectures, and they actually getting very interested in the Amish. If you want, I'll send you some of the questions I have them answer.
