Hi Ted,
I'm assuming you won't mind me echoing my reply to the list.
Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I had sort of come to the conclusion of
start cheap first myself.
I bought a Dromida Ominus and I really like it. I've flown it once
outside and once inside.
HOWEVER ...
I was doing some reading and was HORRIFIED to find that these little
brushed motors may only last 3 hours or so. SAY WHAT?! It's disgusting
to think that I may have already used 10% of the life of the motors. If
true, I don't think they should even be on the market. I have no desire
to replace motors after only 20 flights, which would cost me 50% of the
price of the quad.
Seriously considering returning this and building a brushless design
with good bearings and shafts from a kit or from scratch if I cannot buy
one. Might have to in order for this to meet MY engineering standards.
By the way, where are you located? Maybe we could meet. Know of any
multirotor / heli clubs in the Alpharetta, Cumming, Gainesville,
Dahlonega area (of GA)?
Sincerely,
Ron

Hey Ron,
Sorry to reply to you off-list, the email I subscribed with is
currently not allowing me to send outbound (but inbound is working
fine *shrug*).
I'm not sure if you're already involved in the hobby or not but if
this is your first time behind the controls of a quad I'd stick with
something as cheap as possible. I recommend new pilots start off on
something like the Hubson X4 [1]. They're incredibly cheap, very
durable and replacement parts are easy to come by and inexpensive.

I've been looking at getting in to FPV as well. I've been waiting for
the Oneshot125 from Mini Quad Bros [2] to come back in stock. It seems
like a good bang for your buck FPV racer.

call on the phone or send again. I don't always see new email messages
very quickly.)
