Windows Advanced Server Software Assurance and Upgrade Advantage promotion -Provides the easiest and most economical path to upgrade from Windows 2000 Server to Windows 2000 Advanced Server and to purchase Software Assurance for Windows 2000 Advanced Server.  Customers can upgrade their Windows 2000 Servers, NT Servers to Windows Advanced Servers using Software Assurance or Upgrade Advantage (where applicable) for a limited time, until July 31, 2002.  Read this website for details:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/server/howtobuy/pricing/saua/overview.asp

Upgrade Advantage discontinued soon
This is a reminder that as of July 31, 2002, Upgrade Advantage is no longer available on any of Microsoft's Products.  So, what does this mean?

* If you have not purchased Software Assurance (on current products-see below for listing of current products) or Upgrade Advantage on non-current products as of August 1, 2002 you will need to buy a brand new licenses at full price when moving to the next version.   This affects purchases of all Microsoft Products.

* Current Products (Enroll in software assurance prior to July 31, 2002):  Office 2000 or Office XP, Windows 2000 Server and Advanced Server, All Servers Version 2000, Windows 2000 or Windows XP operating systems, all application software version 2000 and above

* Non-Current Products (Enroll in Upgrade Advantage prior to July 31, 2002):  Office 95, 97, Windows 95,98, ME, All Servers less then 2000 version, all apps    less than 2000 version

Save $$ by enrolling your Servers in Upgrade Advantage or Software Assurance.  Even if you do not place all your products under Software Assurance or Upgrade Advantage, we highly recommend that you protect your as all of your Server Licenses.  Why?

* Servers- Savings associated with placing your servers under Upgrade Advantage or Software Assurance are considerable as compared to Office and other Microsoft Products given the fact that Servers are more expensive and tend to increase much more in price as new upgrades are released.  Upgrade advantage gives you the rights to the most current software released during the term of your contract even if you do not deploy right away.  If you do not put your Servers under upgrade advantage then you will need to buy brand new servers next time you decide to upgrade to the newest version.   If you are currently on a Campus Agreement or School Agreement we also recommend placing your Servers under software assurance to keep all products up to date as well as reduce the risk of compliancy.

*Note:  If you currently are licensed for any of the Version 2000 Servers(considered current product) then you will need to enroll these in Software Assurance prior to July 31, 2002 as opposed to purchasing upgrade advantage.  If you choose not to enroll in Software Assurance then you will need to purchase a brand new server license the next time you decide to upgrade to newest release.
