Likely so: OpenSolaris was complaining just as much about ACPI errors; the `messages' file there was growing at enormous rate, and in addition the boot option to disable ACPI didn't work -- one of the reasons I decided to scrap it off the disk and try NetBSD. (If it helps, I can try installing FreeBSD/i386: that actually booted -- I had tried a 8.0 pre-release I had already on a memory stick. I wanted (why? don't know) amd64, and retried, unsuccessfully, with a new, FreeBSD/amd64 8-CURRENT, image on the stick.) -- Alex -- alex-goncha...@comcast.net --
