Well, I did "time wget -d www.google.fi" and got
real    0m0.737s
for the whole operation. This, of course, includes the time to start up
wget, the time to establish TCP/IP connection, the time to download the
page and save it to the disk and the time for wget to exit. Even then, the
whole operation took only 0.7 seconds, so I think that we can safely
conclude that the problem is Freenet itself, not my ISP.

Freenet is, of course, running at nice 19, so maybe that adds some
scheduling latency ?
