We just received a bunch of 1U servers with cable managment arms (customer ordered the arms) and I though I would appeal to the collective wisdom of LOPSA. It has been years since I have used cable managment arms and even then, they were on much larger systems. These are a bunch of 1U servers that are going to have several cables coming off the back.

I tend to agree with all of the answers so far regarding why they are not useful and why I wouldn't use them. I personally hate them. However, your parenthetical in the first sentence is perhaps the most important: the customer ordered the arms, so you really need to understand their view. If they want them (and they may, simply because they paid for them and don't want to go back and say they wasted money), you may have to use them. Before you make a decision, make sure to discuss with your customer your views and understand their views.
