Several years ago we purchased an SMS modem, and use 
http://smstools3.kekekasvi.com/ to send SMS pages. 

This also avoids any sort of (local) network issue, as it uses the cellular 
carrier directly. Bit of monthly dollars, but has proven itself quite handy.

Any SMS messages come from the cellular modem number (we actually have two).
