First I want to thank all that answered my first question. So now I am
looking to build the machine. I have learned from other mistakes to not use
one of my "older units" on my shelf. Also they are very old and it isn't
worth the effort. I understand that it should have the most memory as
possible. The unit will be hard wired to the house router (using CAT 6
cable) so that will reduce any bottle neck there. I have a wide screen
monitor with a DVI input so I have that covered. I am looking for
suggestions from folks who have built their own system at low cost. I am,
mainly looking for which Motherboard folks have found to be the "most
compatible" with Ubuntu.
I am leaning toward a separate video card because I don't want to replace
the entire motherboard because of video issues or it goes belly up. I can
live with an onboard Raid controller as I plan to use 2 drives mirrored.
Thanks in advance
