I just applied a system update to my Android, and now my contacts include people I don't know. It appears, that people's email addresses automatically create entries in the contact list - people for example on mailing lists like this.
I can go down the list and one by one, delete the contacts, but I think there *must* be a checkbox somewhere that says to automatically add people I've seen in email to my contacts list. Try as I might, I just can't find such a checkbox, and my google-fu has failed me thus far. Anybody have a clue? The best answer I could find was here: http://forums.androidcentral.com/verizon-droid-incredible/16772-stop-auto-add-contacts.html which talks about HTC specifically (which I have), and says you can't undo. Which, if they're right, would be infuriating.
