We generally use TSM as our standard backup solution for *nix boxes, but for Oracle we're in the process of switching to RMAN. For the NetApp fileservers, we create snapshots then mirror them with snapmirror to our "vault" server, which is an R200 with boatloads of 7200RPM SATA-II high-capacity disks. My understanding is that RMAN provides a lot of features that our Oracle database admins really like, and that we can't get any other way (at least, not easily). I'd be interested to see how this sort of thing would play out with ZFS and the built-in HSM capabilities of the Sun 7xxx series of "storage" devices. -- Brad Knowles <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> LinkedIn Profile: <http://tinyurl.com/y8kpxu> _______________________________________________ Tech mailing list [email protected] http://lopsa.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/tech This list provided by the League of Professional System Administrators http://lopsa.org/
