I'll give a hesitant thumbs up for rdiff-backup as well -- I should mention that it had some backwards compatibility issues in the past. I was using an online backup site that supported rdiff-backup, but had an older version (not extremely old, just a couple of minor versions behind IIRC) that prevented me from using it. Apart from that minor issue, it is a fantastic tool.
