I had a customer with this problem once - drove me NUTS! Checked solder, flexed boards, the works - could not duplicate problem in the shop. Was returning set to customer, about ready to give up, when the set did IT! At the same time a large truck had passed the house reflecting sunlight thru a multi-colored stain glass window - the flickering red just happened to key the off/on commands to the IR pickup on the TV. Moved TV 3". Cust called the other day to tell me set is working fine.
