If you are saying that older versions acted differently, then we can look at why that is. Do you have a side-by-side of old vs. new? Running text through an application first to convert then using that or trying to covert on the fly for every page is going to cause more time then actually just replacing the characters via notepad, word doc or whatever before pasting. The text does not work through any browser on any platform when viewing. Also, with the amount of data we get on a daily basis and the rewriting of thousands of taf files, this can become very problematic to us. The reason this has been so glaring recently is because we rebuilt a site from the ground up that had hundreds of docs sent to us. Your solution would take longer to implement then what we have in place. Tango didn’t and still does not have any problem with this. It is only a problem in Tera… John Muldoon Corporate Incentives 3416 Nicollet Ave S Minneapolis, MN 55408-4552 612.822.2222 [email protected] cid:875001213@05112012-110E <http://cipromo.com/> http://cipromo.com From: Robert Shubert [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Friday, September 06, 2013 8:48 AM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: TeraScript-Talk: Character Bloopers John, This is happening because the character set of the text is not 8859-1, but TeraScript is assuming that it is. The trick is that you may not be able to know the character set. This is where you’ll need to do some experimentation. On Mac’s there was a character set known as Mac Roman, which I believe has now been replaced by UTF-8. Something that I would try first is this: Either pass all your input, or just those inputs from Macs (using the @HTTPATTRIBUTE user_agent), through the @CIPHER tag. What you want to do is @CIPHER action=decode type=utf-8 What this will do is convert the (presumably) UTF-8 input from the Mac to 8859-1 text that TS will then process properly. I tried posting several months ago and got no response, but this is starting to choke our work flow. When we receive documents that are for a MAC, typically word and excel docs, we are getting character errors. Especially on ‘, -, _, … and misc. others. When we paste the text from docs generated on a MAC, depending on the browser we use to view the page through TeraScribe, the characters either do not show or we get a box or ?. It is getting problematic to always have to test the pages or replace all the characters that are not working. Is there a fix for this? We have no problems with any docs generated from Windows, or so it seems. We can get up to 10 to 20 updates per day it this is really dragging us down. Following is some text that was sent to us. Try it for yourself. The apostrophes are not working after pasting this text into the editor and viewing through a browser… ’Blah Inc. was founded in 1979 by Bob.
