Thanks for the info Stas and Joe. I will try rebuilding with Joe's suggestion. However, I'm curious why things work just fine when I run the tests and pass in the path to httpd. For example:
t/TEST -httpd /usr/local/apache/bin/httpd
I'm not sure, but you could run both with tracing on -trace=debug or APACHE_TEST_TRACE_LEVEL=debug and then compare the logs. Could be that in one case it finds a global httpd.conf but not in the other?
