I sent this message a few days ago. There was no response. I've had a few problems lately so maybe it got lost. I appologise for sending again if it did get through before and no-one wants to know.
I have a problem with MIDI instructions interfering with voltas:- I interpret the MIDI section of the PMX manual to imply a PMX file of format:- +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Headings It...i.... //set up MIDI output, timing, instruments MR1 //record the MIDI output Main body of music as pmx M //stop recording the MIDI output V1 First time bars as pmx MP1 //playback the recorded MIDI output Rr V2b Second time bars as pmx +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ This gives me a correct MIDI file but pmx falls over in the tex phase with:- ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Runaway argument? {\bigfont \kern -30pt \pnotes {2.00}\hu {'C}&\islurd {11}a\qu a\sk \tslur \ETC. ! Forbidden control sequence found while scanning use of \C@ch. <inserted text> \par <to be read again> \bye l.466 \bye ? +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ If, however, I comment out the lines related to MIDI, it is processed correctly by pmx but, of course, no MIDI file. So I can only achieve my objectives (MIDI and printable music) by running pmx twice. What am I doing wrong, please? --- Thanks & Best wishes, Howard.
